The Challenge

Reading the news became much easier with AI-generated summaries, condensing an entire page of content to a paragraph or a few sentences. However, Artificial Intelligence is susceptible to hallucination, an unpredictable variable that causes the AI to label fabricated statements as verified facts.

Motivation

I come from an economics background, but I also had a passion for technology. It all began while I was researching a company's financial statements. I have always wondered where the source of the numbers came from and how financial analysts could implement AI for convenience. This led to the question

How can we accurately determine the source of these financial reports, and how can we automate the summarization process while maintaining accuracy?

That is when I made it my mission to create an events monitor which combines convenience and source accuracy to prevent fabricated statements.

What We Monitor

In our initial stages, we monitor Form 8-K along with XBRL Data for historical changes.

Form 8-K is used to report major material events to the public, such events may include significant changes to a company's structure, Bankruptcy, and Acquisitions.

XBRL-formatted financial data in SEC EDGAR is used to pull historical figures such as financial statements and company disclosures. We use this to provide quarter comparisons with our summarized events.

Our Mission

Sources are our priority. Truth lies within the source, especially for AI-generated content. We combine convenience with transparency, making lengthy financial filings accessible for researchers and analysts.

8K Observer minimizes AI hallucination by ensuring summaries directly quote exact filing text. Multiple guardrail layers provide unbiased summaries of the latest filings. Every filling will include a hyperlink to the official SEC documents. Fillings that have failed multiple attempts undergo manual review before publication.
